The Victorians loved to explore the wilder areas of Britain, like the Peak District where I am lucky enough to live. This week I walked in the grounds of majestic Chatsworth House, the kind of place where Mr Darcy would have felt at home. In fact, it is the home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire.

High up in the hills behind the house is a rather grand Hunting Tower, which would provide the perfect venue for a secret assignation!

In the woods behind the house we also saw another of those wonderful ice waterfalls. This eclipsed the one we saw the previous week in grandeur, because it was falling from a great height over a ruined viaduct.

There is always something new to see in the natural world, just as human nature can constantly surprise us if we delve a little further into its mysteries!
